North Star At Home Based Business

A lot of people I meet are focused on one and only one thing — making money!  But  top home based business professionals should have a more rounded view of their life.  And believe me when I tell you, balance is the key.

If you can imagine your life as a stool with seven legs, each of those seven legs needs to be roughly the same length, or your life can get pretty lopsided.  Yes, I know that when you’re starting a home based business , you need to really be focusing intensely 24/7 on your laucnch, but the fact is, once you’ve got your home biz up and running, you will need to take some time in some personal areas as well or you will face certain burnout.

Here are the seven categories we use in our work from home company lives — and I’ll tell you they are in no particular order because sometimes what is first today may be last tomorrow!  But they are all important!

Business vocation or avocation – this is where your at home based business interests are focused.  This will be the way you earn your living  from your ability to make money from home. You’ll spend a good part of your life here, but it won’t necessarily be what grounds you.

Health and Fitness — this category can suffer greatly if you’re giving all of your attention to the home based small business area of your life.  But think about this — if you’re the wealthiest person on earth and too unhealthy to enjoy it, what is the point? Plus, when building your top home business, you need the energy to work long hours and the focus to really get things done.  These things are only possible when you are healthy and fit.

Financial well-being — this category comes not only from your ability to earn extra money from home, it is also how you spend what you earn, invest what you earn and save what you earn.  To become super rich, you must have a financial plan that will grow your assets by laying out a financial plan for your future.

Personal Growth — I love this category — I spend hours reading and researching in all areas of my life for how I can be smarter in every personal and business category.  Personal development allows you to spend time on a strategy to become a better person in all areas of your life.

Recreation– this is a category that often gets left out somewhere along the way. For many, there seems to just not be enough time to fit this in.  Well — it is one of the most important factors because it helps keep you connected to your friends and family and it helps to rejuvenate, regenerate and prevent burnout that ultimately will help you make money from home.

Relationships — when you’re starting or growing your home business Internet marketing operation, it is so important to maintain and nurture the relationships with your inner support system.  The people in your life whom you love, need to be reassured you’re still there for them. It takes conscious effort to let people know–every day– they are important to you!

Sense of community — this could mean different things for different people — for some it might mean church, others it might mean a social group, for others a service club. What it means for me personally is Rotary — we gather for fellowship and to serve our local and global communities — its a chance to give back to others less fortunate. Whatever it is for you — its important to foster.

Once you’ve got those seven categories in your mind, be sure you don’t spend all your energy trying to grow one category to the detriment of the others or your personal life stool will not be able to stand on its own.  Strive to make your at home based business one part of a balanced life!
